Hotel Acropolis House

The Hotel Acropolis House is a preserved mansion of the 19th century, in excellent condition. The hotel was established in 1965 by the family Choudalaki, which operates and directs it since.

In general the hotel has a family character, providing safety and complete services to  the families and the individuals that visit us, with respect to the character of the hotel.

Most all, however, it respects the vacations of its visitors! It provides full service on all levels: whether in the event of an emergency or for something very simple, such as proposals on how to spend an evening in Athens, we are here to help. This is the reason our hotel has created a regular clientelle of returning visitors, from Greece and abroad alike!

The objective of the hotel, however, remains the enlargement of the guest list and the search of new, satisfied customers and friends. Our principles of operation, are summarised in cleanness and efficiency.

The history of the building

The hotel Acropolis House is a preserved mansion of the 19th century, in excellent condition. It is constituted in essence by two different, connected buildings. The oldest of those is a stone mansion of roughly 120 years and the other is a four-story building of 75 years.

The hotel was established in 1965 by the family Choudalaki, which operates and directs it since then. The residence has been characterized "diatiriteo" (being preserved) by the Greek Ministry of Culture and in certain rooms, due to the strong earthquake of 1999, more murals of the 19th century were revealed! Murals of the same time period also adorn the reception and other areas of the building.

In its entirety the hotel has 19 rooms that include comfortable singles, doubles and big, family rooms.

The location of the hotel

The hotel Acropolis House is found in the entry of Plaka, thus, having the advantage of proximiy to all the interesting sights, without the disadvantage of noise and bustle from the crowds of visitors.

In particular, it is found in a astonishing location for the travelling professional and the tourist alike:

• you need just 10 minutes on foot to reach the site of the Acropolis and the new Acropolis Museum,
• 3 minutes on foot from the Syntagma (Constitution) Square,
• 3 minutes from the metro station (undeground train),
• 3 minutes from the stop of the E95 EXPRESS bus from the airport and
• 2 minutes from the commercial and operational centre of Athens.
• Near the hotel parking, museums, drugstores and the office of tourist information exist.

The available spaces of the hotel

In the Hotel Acropolis House we promote non-smoking policy in the communal and enclosed spaces. However, customers can smoke freely in the specifically designed veranda on the first floor or at the occasional balconies of rooms.

In the breakfast area, continental style breakfast is served very early in the morning for early departures.

For the customers that come very early and the customers that leave late bathrooms with shower are available.

Also, the hotel provides storage space for luggage to customers that require such.

Of course, Hotel Acropolis House makes available the safe that is in the reception area.

Finally, Hotel Acropolis House has a library, with a rich collection, to borrow books from. This is himself occasionally enriched by the customers.

The ammenities of the rooms

In its entirety the hotel has 19 rooms that include comfortable singles, doubles and big, family rooms. Apart from the special spaces that are available the hotel, offers also certain amenities inside the customers’ rooms:

• Television,
• telephone,
• hot water on a 24h base,
• air condition,
• central heating,
• refrigerators for use of customers (in the 70% of rooms and we continue until we cover the 100%),
• veranda for smoking - if the room does not have balcony –
• Double glass panes

It does not provide an elevator, in order to it maintain the quiet atmosphere of the hotel.

However, if any movement disorder exists, the employees of the hotel will provide a solution.

• Online reservations are available, where you can add notes on any particular needs  (e.g. being on honeymoon,needing a twin room, having limited mobility etc.)
• Available wi-fi internet in the ground floor,in the living room and the breakfast room (after 12.00) with free cofee available.
• Babysitting, should it be  necessary. You can even ask for the babycot that exists in the hotel and was initially used for the granddaughters of the owner (2007), if you have baby or infant.
• Full service in case of an emergency.
• Full service in general whether you need a recommendation to dinner, calling for a taxi, touring in Greece or renting a car or bicycle.
• Periodical change of mattresses and imperative change in case of “accidents”.
